The title of this blog post really does say it all ~ time flies. Is it just me, or doesn’t it feel like it was just Christmas recently? And now here we are and the year is almost half over! 2016 has been an extremely busy one for our family. We are still getting situated in our ‘new to us’ home and trying to find time for all the yard work is sometimes challenging with our busy schedules, but we are really loving it and we have planted a vegetable garden, which I am excited to see grow (hopefully!).
With summer fast approaching here in the Lower Mainland, I am happy that we are getting more daylight each day and that we have been seeing more of the sunshine as well. I really am a sun lover (hence my love of tropical destinations) so I much prefer this to our sometimes dark and rainy fall/winter days. I did get a break from our BC winter weather earlier this year and managed to spend some time in Las Vegas and Los Cabos. For anyone who has not been to Cabo in the past year or two, or if you have never been, this destination needs to be on your ‘must visit’ list. With short, direct flights from Vancouver combined with great resort options and the absolutely amazing beach, there is no reason not to check it out! I was able to experience the fabulous 5 star service and quality offered at the Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos resort and they did not disappoint. This picture is of fresh fruit that was delivered poolside by a food cart and my delicious mojito, a perfect way to spend the afternoon. And did I mention the beach? Wow – you can walk in the perfect sand for miles in either direction!
On a more personal note, I wanted to share what travel means to me as a travel agent, as a destination wedding planner, as a mother, as a wife, as a daughter, as a friend. I have recently been faced with (and am still involved with) a very close family health crisis, I have always believed that travel is a necessary life experience for everyone of any age. The exposure to different cultures around the world, the beauty of the landscapes, and the hands on knowledge that is gained from personal experience is truly invaluable. Another huge benefit is the bonding and memories that are created when traveling with family. When your family is able to come together, now matter how large or small (or even if great friends are included too), and everyone is together, enjoying a more relaxed day where there are no work and time commitments, a truly great thing happens. It seems like everyone gets a chance to reconnect, truly sit and listen while engaging in conversations with others, and remember what is important and valuable ~ family. On that note, I think I need to start planning my next getaway. So many choices though: Jamaica, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Aruba, Turks and Caicos, I could go on and on. Maybe I will have to put all the choices in a hat and just pull one out. Have you started your winter vacation planning yet? Don’t wait! The best prices are not last minute for winter dates!
